Steering Group Chair

I am a North Carolina native and a Durham resident since 2012. With the exception of a three year stint in Chicago, I have lived in central NC my entire life.  Despite living in Duke territory, I am a proud graduate of NC State (go Pack!).
The local church has played a defining role in my life from early childhood through to adulthood. I have served in various types of churches and in various capacities but mostly with high school students for the better part of ten years. I grew up attending a small United Methodist church in the country, was part of the core team of a Wesleyan church plant in Chapel Hill after college, and served on staff at a non-denominational mega-church outside Chicago while earning a Masters degree from Bethel Seminary (a Baptist General Conference school).  What matters most to me is not the size of a church or it’s denominational affiliation (or lack thereof), but that it’s lead well by emotionally healthy leaders who are striving to cultivate the most authentic expression of Christian community and service as possible.
I make a living working in general management for a firefighting equipment distributor as well as doing strengths-based development with individuals and teams.  When I’m not working or spending time with my family or wrangling kids, I enjoy reading, snowboarding, building/fixing things, or simply sitting with my thoughts.
I am happily married to Christina (a UNC grad by the way) and we have three wonderful children, William, Rebecca and Avery. We began attending Oak in the summer of 2015 and one of the things that drew us to Oak and that we’re most excited about is the desire at Oak to be deeply rooted and invested in the local community and striving to faithfully bear God’s image.
