Katie DeConto

Oak Music Director

I am from the beautiful state of New Hampshire, home of the White Mountains. I moved to Carrboro, North Carolina, in 2008 because while I was in college in Tennessee, my whole family (parents, three brothers, and sister) relocated to Carrboro. In 2009, I moved to Durham (Lyon Park) because that is where I could afford to buy a house. I still live in Lyon Park, now with my husband, Steve, our baby, Eliot, and our mini schnoodle, Meatball. My favorite place to hang out in Durham is in my backyard around a fire with a few or several of my siblings and friends.

One random fact that you should know about me is that I started my own business in downtown Durham, which lasted 8 years (until COVID-19).  When I’m not leading the band at Oak Church, I love to cook Italian food, watch movies, and do yoga.  If you’d like to talk about singing, playing, or running sound on the Oak Music team, then I’m your person – please don’t hesitate to reach out!
