Byron Cogdell

Howard Thurman was an African-American author, philosopher, theologian, educator, and civil rights leader. As a prominent religious figure, he played a leading role in many social justice movements and organizations of the twentieth century. Thurman’s theology of radical nonviolence influenced and shaped a generation of civil rights activists, and he was a key mentor to leaders within the civil rights movement, including Martin Luther King Jr.

Byron Cogdell is passionate about Jesus and His Mission. Every ministry that he and his family serve in reflect that passion. After pursuing a call to church planting and pastoral ministry, he and his family moved to Memphis, TN. to be trained and developed through the Fellowship Memphis’ Pastoral Residency Program. After completing the residency, the Cogdell’s transitioned back to their home Daytona to plant, Identity Church, a gospel-centered, disciple-making, connecting church. Byron has a Bachelors of Arts in Public Relations from Bethune-Cookman University and is completing his Masters of Biblical & Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL.
