I was born and raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on the Ohio River just south of WV’s northern panhandle.  Notorious fact:  On the Ohio near Parkersburg is Blennerhassett Island, where Aaron Burr met in the home of aristocrat Harman Blennerhassett several times to plan the alleged military plot to create a new country out of the Louisiana Territory.

Our family moved to Durham in 1998 from the Washington, DC area to live closer to extended family and in a more affordable area.  We have been here ever since and love it.   I live with my husband Chris, and we have two adult kids – Caroline in Atlanta and Alex in Wilmington.  My favorite place to hang out in Durham is anywhere downtown with Chris.  We particularly love DPAC, Durham Bulls games, and trying all the restaurants.

One random fact that you should know about me and Chris is that we lived part-time in Cape Town, South Africa, over the past five years for Chris’s job.   When I’m not at Oak Church’s Tuesday night small group or working with my Oak Good Neighbor Team helping an Afghan family with English, I love to read, entertain friends, travel, and have been known to perform community theater.  One notable role was the wardrobe in Beauty and the Beast.   If you’d like to talk about Open Table Ministry to the homeless in Durham, or international missions in India, or contemplative prayer, then I’m your person.
